TV and Radio
The March distribution covers music use in all TV and Radio areas where distributions are made monthly. As regards DR radio channels, the March distribution sees the first distributions for 2024, which includes music use in January. As regards all other radio channels as well as TV channels where distributions are made monthly, the distribution covers music use up to and including December 2023. In these areas, distributions for 2024 will begin with the April 2024 distribution.
Also included are annual distributions covering 2023 for VH1 and quarterly distributions for Q4 2023 for the TV2 regions.
Online
Within the online area, the March distribution includes a monthly distribution for the Danish music streaming service Nuuday Musik (YouSee Musik and Telmore Musik), covering music use in January 2024. It also includes distributions for the services Spotify, YouTube and TikTok, covering licensing in Denmark and direct licensing abroad. Please note that distributions for a consumption period on TikTok are carried out over the course of two Koda distributions: the first is based on a temporary assessment, while the second is a final settlement for the period. This distribution includes a final settlement for the period May 2021 up to and including April 2022 as well as the first distribution for the period May 2022 up to and including July 2023. As regards the VOD area, the March distribution includes a substantial final settlement for C More’s VOD, covering the period 2013–2022. In addition, it includes quarterly or semi-annual payments for the services Netflix (Q2 2023), TV2 Play (Q4 2023), HBO Max (Q3–Q4 2023), Disney+ (Q3-Q4 2023) and YouSee/Blockbuster (Q1–Q2 2023)
Concerts
As regards concerts, the March distribution covers all concerts where the music reporting has been processed and completed and where Koda has received all necessary information from the concert promoter (for example about ticket revenues per concert).
The March distribution commences distributions for concerts given in 2024 within most concert areas. This includes concerts held at various Danish venues, church concerts, theatre concerts etc.
Abroad
Koda regularly pays out revenues received from sister societies for the use of Koda members’ music abroad. Koda’s distribution rates reflect the individual societies’ distribution frequency and speed in their various distribution areas.
Prior to this March distribution, Koda has received new settlements from Koda’s sister societies in France (SACEM) and Japan (Jasrac), and much of this month’s distributions within this field comes from these countries. The distributions cover performances in various areas up to and including 2023.
Please note that distributions from France are no longer taxed there: after many years, a new double taxation agreement has been concluded between Denmark and France. This is welcome news because distributions from SACEM in France to Koda will increase for this reason alone as of 2024.
