TV, Radio and Online
The October distribution covers all TV and Radio areas where distributions are made monthly. While it primarily concerns performances in July, you will find that in several areas performances from August have also already been reported, processed and are ready for distribution.
As regards the Online area, the October distribution includes monthly distributions for the music streaming service Nuuday Musik (YouSee Musik and Telmore Musik), covering music use in August 2023. In addition, it includes distributions for the VOD service Viafree covering the period 2019–2022. That distribution is based on relevant data from Viaplay, which has also been available on the free service. Koda’s agreement with Viafree has been under negotiation for a long time, which is why the distribution covers an extended period.
Also within the VOD area, the October distribution includes annual distributions for music use in short films and documentaries streamed on the VOD service Filmcentralen in 2022.
Concert – including Roskilde Festival and Smukfest
As regards concerts, the October distribution covers all concerts where the music reporting has been processed and completed and where Koda has received all necessary information from the concert promoter (for example about ticket revenues per concert). On this occasion, this includes concerts held up to and including September 2023.
The October distribution sees us beginning to make distributions for concerts at this year’s Roskilde Festival and Smukfest. This is even sooner than last year, and the swift payment is due to Koda having made an extra effort to obtain all the necessary information from the festival organisers and to complete processing of all the concert reports received.
Other areas – TV in Education and Compensation for local sub-publishing
The October distribution includes the area TV in Education (Reuse), which covers the use of music in TV broadcasts that have been screened in an educational context during 2022. This applies to the part of the area that is settled on the basis of analogous data from the general TV area. Further to this, Koda receives additional reporting from the CFU (Center For Undervisningsmidler/Centre for Educational Resources) on the TV broadcasts streamed from their platform during 2022. The distribution for this part will be made in December.
In addition, the distribution includes the so-called ‘Compensation for local sub-publishing’. The amounts distributed in this area derive from revenues from cable TV as well as interactive TV services offered by TV distributors such as YouSee and Stofa.
Abroad
Prior to this distribution, Koda has received new quarterly settlements from sister societies in the USA (ASCAP), Australia (APRA) and France (SACEM), respectively, and a significant part of the total distribution within the Abroad area comes from these countries. The distributions primarily cover performances from 2022 in the areas of TV, Radio and Online.
