TV and Radio
The August distribution covers all TV and Radio areas where distributions are made monthly. These primarily concern performances in April and May, but in several areas you will find that performances from June 2023 have also already been reported, processed and are ready for distribution. Furthermore, the August distribution includes monthly distributions for music used in commercials on various channels which have uplinks abroad but where Koda processes and makes distributions for the music used in commercials. The August distribution sees the first distributions for music use in 2023 for a range of TV channels, specifically Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, Investigation Discovery, TLC and TV2 Sport X, with the distributions covering the first half of 2023.
Furthermore, final settlements are made for 2022 as regards the TV channels operated by TV2 and the radio channels operated by DR. The final settlement includes the channels where, after all the monthly distributions for the year have been made, some undistributed funds remain. These are then distributed proportionally based on the works and rightsholders involved in the original distributions.
Online, Concert and Background
In terms of Online use of music, the August distribution includes the monthly distribution for the music streaming service Nuuday Musik (YouSee Musik and Telmore Musik), covering performances up to and including June 2023. As regards the Background area, the August distribution includes the final settlement for 2022 within the category ‘Daytime Radio’. You can find general information on Koda’s Background areas here
As regards concerts, the August distribution covers all concerts where music reporting has been processed and completed and where Koda has received all necessary information from the concert promoter (for example about ticket revenues per concert).
Abroad
The August distribution for music used abroad is substantial and includes several of the territories/countries from which Koda typically receives the largest distributions.
These distributions are listed below, stating some of the main areas and periods included. The information is based on the distribution information submitted by the individual collective rights management societies alongside their distribution amounts and data. It is listed in order of the magnitude of the amount distributed per territory/society.
Germany (GEMA): Concerts, TV and Radio – up to and including Q4 2022
Sweden (STIM): Online, TV and Background – up to and including Q4 2022
Finland (TEOSTO): TV, Radio, Concert and Background music – up to and including Q4 2022
Norway (TONO): TV, Radio and Online – up to and including Q4 2022
USA (ASCAP): TV, Radio and Online – up to and including Q3 2022
Switzerland (SUISA): TV commercials, TV, Radio – up to and including Q4 2022
