After lengthy negotiations, Copydan’s member organisations and Koda have agreed on the distribution of remuneration for selected digital usages of TV, film and series content provided by TV distributors. As a result, Koda has now received payment for the use of music in these contexts, covering the period 2013 to 2020. These funds will be distributed in March and April. In addition, Koda has received payment for the use of music on the TV channel Xee, which will be distributed for the first time in March.

Interactive TV services – 17 March
The majority of the payment for digital services covers the use of music in television programmes made available by television distributors on their digital platforms. This applies to programmes that have been shown on flow channels included in the relevant distributors’ TV packages and which can subsequently be watched by viewers as catch up.
This type of music use falls under the distribution category ‘Interactive TV services’, a category for which Koda already receives and processes reporting from TV distributors and has done so throughout the period covered by the payment now received (2013 to 2020). With this information, Koda’s distribution can be based on reports of the actual consumption from the specific years in question and will be carried out as a final distribution among the works included in the original distributions made within the area.
This part of the distribution will be carried out in March and will appear in distribution statements or on My Koda under ‘Interactive TV Services’, specified per year.
VOD Archive and DRTV at TV distributors – 21 April
Another part of the payment for digital consumption covers the use of music in movies and series which TV distributors make available via their own VOD archives. The remuneration received for this aspect also covers the period 2013 to 2020 and is distributed based on reporting on film and series consumption received by Koda from the TV distributors.
This part will be distributed in April and will appear in distribution statements or on My Koda under the heading ‘VOD archive – at TV distributors’, specified per year.
The April distribution will also include distributions for the VOD service DRTV, covering the music use that takes place when the service is offered via the TV distributors’ digital platforms. The distribution will cover the period 2019 to 2020.
Xee – 17 March
Koda has also received remuneration for the TV channel Xee, covering the use of music from the channel’s beginning in 2019 until 2021. A distribution covering the entire period will be made as part of the upcoming March distribution, based on reporting of all the channel’s broadcasts for all three years.
